About the club
Southern Suburbs were founded in 1918 as Carlton in West End, on the south bank of the Brisbane River, joining the first grade competition in 1919. When district football was introduced in 1933, Carlton became Southern Suburbs. Souths won the Brisbane Rugby League premiership on ten occasions, including a unique sweep of first, reserve and third grades in 1945. Souths merged with Logan City in 2003 to form Souths Logan, winning a Queensland Cup premiership in 2008. Past Magpies include Bill Tyquin, Gary Belcher, Mal Meninga and Jamayne Isaako. Today, the Souths Logan play in the Intrust Super Cup at Davies Park, West End. The Magpies are a feeder club for the Brisbane Broncos.
